someries.jpgThe Rotary Club of Luton Someries was formed in 1993 and takes its name from Someries Castle in Luton.

This website is for members of the public and other Rotarians to see what we do - and is also a working site for the club's members, so some areas are restricted. Our Committee News and News sections contain information on club activities.

Please come and join us for breakfast on a Friday morning. If possible, could you inform us before the event; then we can ensure there's enough food and a place for you to sit! Our Contact Us page has the relevant phone numbers or email addresses.

Presentation to Year 6 at William Austin Junior School

One of Rotary International's objectives is to tackle illiteracy in the World.  With that in mind the Rotary Club of Tower Hamlets has produced the most amazing beautifully illustrated dictionary for children 9 and older, which they titled "Dictionaries 4 Life".

Our Club decided to purchase 120 copies of these Dictionaries and present them to Year 6 at William Austin Junior School on the 30th June 2009.

Several of our members attended including  Past President Jean Howe who spoke to the children about Rotary and personally presented each D4L to the pupils at a Special Assembly organised by the Headmistress.   The assembly was accompanied by the School Choir who sang songs from the musical The Sound of Music.  It was a most enjoyable morning which concluded with  tea and biscuits

The children have since written to the Club members thanking them for the dictionaries.

The School has requested that we present the D4L again next year and it is our intention to do so.
